Horn, Jeanette D. (22 FEB 1931 - 26 OCT 2010)

 

Jeanette D. Horn, 79, of Thorp died at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010.

 

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, rural Greenwood. Interment of cremains will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Monday at the church.

 

Jeanette Doris Humke was born Feb. 22, 1931, in Greenwood, the daughter of George and Lelah (Sheets) Humke. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in the Greenwood area, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1950. Jeanette then attended Eau Claire Teachers College for two years. She taught in the Greenwood area at Rocky Run school and then later at Oakland school.

 

Jeanette was united in marriage to Glenn M. Horn on June 4, 1955, in Iowa. They farmed in the town of Warner until 1961, at which time they sold the farm and built the Bel Aire Motel in Thorp. They moved to Thorp and operated the motel until they sold it in 1983. Jeanette and Glenn then purchased a farm in the town of Worden, south of Thorp, where they have lived until the present time.

 

Survivors include her husband, Glenn, of Thorp; her children: Candace (Don) Cook of Warrens, Wis./Mesa, Ariz., Frank (Elaine) Horn of Thorp, Linda Horn (special friend Jim Brost) of Sheboygan, Randy (Connie) Horn of Thorp, Howie (special friend Julie Pickarts) of Poynette; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers: Irwin (Shirley) Humke and Paul (Rose Carol) Humke, both of Greenwood; one sister-in-law, Betty Humke of Sister Bay.
