Stutte, Mr. and Mrs. Fred A. (60th Anniversary - 13 June 1959)

Sunday, June 14, 1959, was a very important day for Mr. and Mrs. Fred A. Stutte for on that day they observed their 60th wedding anniversary.

The day’s activities were begun with a high mass of thanksgiving at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Norbert King, officiating.

A 12:30 p.m. dinner was served in Marshfield, with 36 present.  Pink and white carnations decorated the table. Dainty floral designs decorated the place cards, which were imported from Germany.

Hugo F. Stutte, son of the honored couple, served as toastmaster.  The Rev. Father King voiced expressions of congratulations, as did two grandchildren, Sharon and Janet Mary Loos.

A buffet supper was served in the home.

The former Annie Margaret Degenhardt was married to Fred A. Stutte in St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Cashton, June 13, 1899.

Mr. Stutte was born March 15, 1868, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Stutte. Before his marriage he was a farmer at Eagle.

Mrs. Stutte was born at Cashton, January 3, 1873, the daughter of Henry and Katherine Degenhardt.  She enjoys gardening and maintains vegetable, fruit, and flower gardens.

The health of both Mr. and Mrs. Stutte is very good, considering their age.

Following their marriage they farmed at Norwalk until March, 1909, when they moved onto the place then known as "the Esselman farm," south of Loyal.

In November, 1937, they retired from farming and built a six-room house in Loyal.

Three of their children, Mrs. Ben (Clara) Clouse, Mrs. Alex (Hilda) Loos, and Hugo F. Stutte, live in Loyal. Another daughter, Miss Laura M. Stutte, lives in Chicago.  There are eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Stutte’s only brother, Joseph, who was one of the original wedding party, was unable to be present on account of ill health.

Coming from away were: Miss Laura M. Stutte, Chicago, ill.; Miss Marlene Loos, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Terrance Stutte and Miss Nan Jean Stutte, Racine; Miss Marilyn Joan Loos, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Eisenhut, Athens; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Degenhardt, Mrs. Henry Degenhardt, Mrs. Bernard Schweiger and Frank Mashak, all of Cashton; and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe and Mrs. Amelia Clouse, Humbird.
