Scheibe, Carl (22 Feb. 1867 - 25 July 1960)

 

Funeral services for Carl (Charles) Scheibe, who died Monday of complications, will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Peace Evangelical and Reformed church, Dorchester, with the Rev. Fred W. Kollath officiating. Burial will be made in the parish cemetery. Mr. Scheibe was a member of the church.

 

Mr. Scheibe left this community 8 years ago and became a resident of the Layton Convalescent Home at Milwaukee. Ten days ago, he underwent surgery at Milwaukee General hospital and died there. He was 93 years old.

 

Mr. Scheibe was born Feb. 22, 1867, at Sheboygan Falls. In his early years he worked in the iron mines at Bessemer, Mich., and later operated a grocery store at Milwaukee.

 

His marriage to Lena Rankl took place in Milwaukee in 1914. Shortly after, they came to the town of Holton and operated a farm until his retirement, after which his step-son, Clarence Rankl, took over operation of the farm.

 

While living in the town of Holton, Mr. Scheibe served on the school board.

 

Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. George (Caroline) Leaka, and Mrs. Gordon (Marion) Beisner, both of Milwaukee; and a step-son, Clarence Rankl, Abbotsford.

 

There are six grand children and two great grand children. One sister, Mrs. Ida S???erman, of Milwaukee, also survives.

 

Besides his wife, four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services for Carl (Charles) Scheibe, 93, who died Monday evening, July 28, at Milwaukee General hospital, were conducted Thursday afternoon at Peace Evangelical and Reformed church, Dorchester, with the Rev. Fred Kollath officiating. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Henry Rau, Otto Genrich, Fred Ridderbusch, Lawrence Metz, Louis Lueddecke, George Empey and Eddie Damm.

 

Miss Alice Tauchen sang "Rock of Ages," and "The Old Rugged Cross," accompanied by Mrs. Ruth Shaw at the organ.

 

Attending the services from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. George Lesica and family and Mr. and Mrs. Gorman Beisner and son, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. William Peckham, Medford; and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Metz, Stetsonville; and many friends and relatives from the surrounding area.
