Gosse, William E. (16 Apr. 1879 - 25 Apr. 1960)

 

William E. Gosse, route 1, Abbotsford, died Monday morning at Memorial hospital, Neillsville. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the First Evangelical and Reformed church at Colby, and internment will be made in the Colby Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Victor Grosshuesch will officiate.

 

Mr. Gosse was born in Sheboygan county April 16, 1879. In 1893, he and Anna Weintz were united in marriage. To this union, two sons were born, Clarence and Melvin.

 

Mr. Gosse, who lived in the town of Colby for 45 years, served as town chairman for 33 years and was a member of the Clark county board of supervisors. He was a member of the First Evangelical and Reformed church, and held various church offices. He was also a member of the Abbotsford local of the musicians union.

 

Mrs. Gosse died in 1933, and, after the death of Melvin in 1953, Mr. Gosse made his home with his son, Clarence.

 

Surviving him are his son, Clarence, Abbotsford; and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Kommer of Kohler and Mrs. Marie Mueller of Sheboygan.

 

One grand son, Maynard Gosse, also preceded him in death.
