Poehnelt, Irene A. (23 AUG 1925 - 12 SEP 2010)

 

LOYAL -- Irene A. Poehnelt, 85, of Loyal, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Loyal. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cuddie Funeral Home in Loyal, with a 7 p.m. rosary service; and at church Friday, from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Irene Ann Wiersgalla was born in Independence on Aug. 23, 1925, the daughter of Simon and Elizabeth (Mish) Wiersgalla. She was united in marriage to Joseph Poehnelt on May 1, 1946, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. They farmed in Medford until 1954, at which time they moved to Loyal. Irene was a homemaker and helped her husband operate their business, Loyal Oil Company, until retiring in 1987.

She is survived by her husband, Joe, of Loyal; her children, Sharon (Vern) Volovsek of Rice Lake, Sandy (Byron) Nestler of Cordova, Tenn., Renee Lebkicker of Severn, Md., Jerry (Joan) of Eagle, Duane (Julie) of Loyal, Dean (Shirley) of Reston, Va., Pat (Ted) Zvolena of Loyal, Mike (Tiki) of DeForest, Bonnie Duda of Phoenix, Ariz., Terri (Tony) Inhof of Hartland and Darla (Alan) Helvig of Glendale, Ariz.; 28 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernice Bautch of Oak Creek; and one brother, Albert Wiersgalla of Whitehall.
