Miller, Florence E. (23 JUL 1950)

The Evangelical Free Church of Seattle, Wash. was the scene of an impressive wedding ceremony, July 23, 1950, at 12 o’clock noon, when Florence E. Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray A. Miller of New Richland, Minn., and Morley C. English, son of Mrs. Mildred English of Portland, Ore., were united in marriage.

Rev. Donald Stover read the double ring ceremony before an archway of garden flowers.  The altar was decorated with baskets of hydrangeas, palms, gladioli, Shasta daisies and white candelabra.

Nuptial music was provided by Miss Janet Bow, pianist, and Mrs. Emil Lindstrom organist, playing "Wedding March: from Lohengrin for the processional and "Mendelssohn’s Wedding March" for the recessional.

Miss Janet Bow also accompanied Mrs. Herbert Walberg who sang "Because" before the ceremony and "The Lord’s Prayer" during the ceremony.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, entered the church to the strains of Lohengrin’s wedding march.  She was lovely in her gown of white slipper satin fashioned with high neckline and standing collar, bodice and hipline of imported heirloom lace, long sleeves pointed over the hands, with full skirt which extended into a long train.  Her fingertip veil of tulle fell gracefully from a coronet of fresh white stephanotis and white split carnations.  She carried a white orchid upon a white Bible from which hung streamers of ribbons entwined with stephanotis.

Mrs. Donald Stover of Seattle was matron of honor, and Mrs. John Bjorkstam was bridesmaid.  They wore blue and yellow gowns respectively and coronets of fresh pink flowers.  They carried gladioli sprays which complemented their gowns.

The groom, dressed in the uniform of the Navy, was attended by Elvin Swanson of Portland, Ore., as best man, and John Bjorkstam of Seattle, Wash., as groomsman.  Both wore dark suits with boutonnieres of white carnations.  Ushers were Lee Berdan, Lloyd Benson, Jr., and Roy Undi, all of Seattle.

Both mothers were attired in silk print dresses and wore orchid corsages.  Immediately following the ceremony a reception dinner was served at the parsonage for the wedding party and a few friends.  Serving at five tables were Mrs. Elliott Silverstone, Mrs. Lloyd Benson, Sr., and Miss Minnie Anderson.  The bride’s table was decorated with cut flowers and centered with a tiered wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom.

The bride is a graduate of Mankato State Teachers College and attended the University of Washington.  She has taught in Claremont and New Richland, Minn., Santa Maria, Calif., and Seattle, Wash.

The groom is a graduate of Multnomah College, Portland, Ore, and has been attending the University of Washington, School of Engineering.  He is a pilot in the Navy Air Corps stationed at N.A.S. San Diego, Calif.  He served in the Atlantic Theatre during World War II.

Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Miller, New Richland, Minn., Mrs. Mildred English, Mr. Elvin Swanson, Mr. and Mrs. Berger Swanson, Portland, Oregon.

The Tribune joins the many friends of the newlyweds in wishing them much happiness.
