Sitts, Jessie V. (3 SEP 1881 - 19 FEB 1950)

Mrs. Jessie Viola Sitts, daughter of the late Mark Lewis and Mary Jane Huston, was born on Sept. 3, 1881, near Soldiers Grove, in Crawford Co., and died in a Prairie du Chien Hospital on Feb. 19, 1950, at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 16 days.

On Sept. 3, 1903, she was united in marriage at Richland Center to Charles Sitts of Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.).

They were engaged in farming in Clark County until 1913, when they moved to Richland County, later farming in Crawford County and near Bagley.  In 1930 they moved to Bloomington, her home at the time of her death.

She is survived by her husband and four children: Milo Sitts of Boscobel, George Sitts of Bloomington, Henry Sitts of Rochester, Minn., and Mrs. Milo (Velma) Bean of Woodman, and 18 grandchildren.  A brother, Andrew Lewis of Loyal, and four sisters, Mrs. William (Alice) Yenske of Viroqua, Mrs. Oscar (Frilli) Sternitzky of Granton, Mrs. Earl (Martha) Driscoll of La Farge, and Mrs. Julius (Nita) Schroder of Spencer, and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Flossie, Luella and Jennie; Mrs. Ira Clouse and a grandchild, Robert Sitts.

Mrs. Sitts suffered a great deal during her extended illness, but she bore her suffering with Christian patience and fortitude.  She was a good neighbor, always ready to give a helping hand to those in need.  She will long be remembered, not only by her loved ones, but also by her friends and neighbors.
