Wenzel, Robert #2 (05 AUG 1943 - 12 JULY 2010)

 

Robert E. Wenzel, 66, Spencer, died on Monday, July 12, 2010, at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., on Wednesday, July 14, at the Rembs Funeral Home, and again on Thursday, July 15, from 10 a.m. until the time of a memorial services at 11 a.m., at Rembs Funeral Home. Rev. Mark A. Krueger will officiate. Burial will be in West Spencer Cemetery in the town of Sherman, Clark County.

 

Robert E. Wenzel was born on Aug. 5, 1943, in Spencer, to Robert and Lillian (nee Gotz) Wenzel. He was a 1961 graduate of Spencer High School. He married Sally A. Conrad on April 30, 1979, in Marshfield. He worked for the Kohler Company, Kohler. In 1971, he and his brother, Charles, bought Spencer Bowl and operated the bowling alley until it was destroyed by fire on Sept. 6, 1995. He then worked for Liberty Homes in Dorchester until his retirement. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, rebuilding St. Croix fishing poles, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. He was a proud grandfather of Isabella Grace Wenzel. He also loved all dogs in the family, with a special love in his heart for Maggie.

 

Survivors include his wife, Sally; three children, Kristi Wenzel, Cashton, Trisha Ewnzel, New Richmond, and Kurt (Leslie) Wenzel, Garden City, Kan.; one granddaughter, Isabella Grace Wenzel; two brothers, Fred (Lois) Wenzel, Hawkins, and Charles (Donna) Wenzel, Spencer; one sister, Karen (Ron) Kupfer, Underwood, Minn.; two sisters-in-law, Sandra (Bruce) Rieth, Marshfield, and Susan (Jeff) Rank, Chili; three brothers-in-law, Gerald (Ardell) Specht, Marshfield, Glen Peters, Dexterville, and Donald Griepentrog, Spencer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Wilbur Wenzel and Gordon Wenzel; one sister, Elizabeth Griepentrog; one sister-in-law, Shirley Peters; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Specht.

 

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
