Wilding, Buford (Hoover Letter - 16 November 1928)

Buford Wilding Gets Letter from H. Hoover - Soon after election, Buford Wilding, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wilding wrote a letter to Herbert Hover congratulating him on his election to the presidency.  Buford is seven years old and is in the second grade in the North Side School.  In his letter he told Mr. Hoover his age and his grade in school.  Last week Buford received a reply from Mr. Hoover written on his personal stationery and signed in ink with Mr. Hoover’s own autograph. The following is a copy of the reply:

Stanford University, California,

Mr. Buford Wilding,

Dear Mr. Wilding: -- I have your very touching letter this morning.  I deeply appreciate your kind thought in sending it to me and I wish to thank you for it.

Yours faithfully,

Herbert Hoover
