Rhyner, Arnold G. (14 DEC 1922 - 7 JUL 2010)

 

DORCHESTER -- Arnold George Rhyner, 87, of Dorchester, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at his home, under the tender care of Tanya Ramker and Ministry Home Care Hospice, with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010, at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester.

A time of visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2010, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Dorchester and one hour prior to the service at the church. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Dorchester Cemetery.

Arnold was born Dec. 14, 1922, in Little Black, the son of Harry and Margaret (Habermeyer) Rhyner. He graduated from Medford High School. After school, Arnold joined the Army, and fought in the Philippines during World War II. He married the former Magdalen Mertens on Oct. 15, 1949, in Dorchester. Arnold was the owner of Rhyner Tie and Lumber for many years. He also drove truck for Tombstone Pizza and drove for Comfort Carriers until he was age 80.

Arnold enjoyed deer hunting, bowling, fishing and riding his Harley. His heart was in the time he spent in the Northwoods on Round Lake, and with his family and friends.

Arnold is survived by his children, Chris Mantor of Lake Delton, Gail (Darrel) Damm of Stetsonville, Debbie (Tony) Stuttgen of Unity, Linda (Mike) Ramker of Davenport, Iowa, Laurie (Roger) Krebsbach of Colby, Paul (Sue) Rhyner of Medford, and Steve (Mary) Rhyner of Rib Lake. He is further survived by 32 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and many other friends and family.

Arnold was preceded in death by his loving wife, Magdalen; his parents; a daughter, Mary Rhyner at infancy; a brother, Edward Rhyner; and three sisters, Marjorie Cypher, Doris LaCoursier and Marcella Heimerl.
