Miss Anita Jean Ueland, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Titus Ueland of Rosemount, Minn. became the bride of Leonard N. Nystad, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nystad of Loyal, at 7 o’clock Saturday evening, Dec. 27, 1947, the Rev. P. Fleischmann officiating.

The candlelight ceremony was performed at St. John’s Lutheran church in Rosemount in a setting appropriate to the Christmas season, of Christmas trees. The candles were lighted by Jean Nystad. a young sister of the groom and Charles Ueland, a young brother of the bride, previous to the beginning of the services.

To the strains of Lohengrin’s bridal march, the bride’s attendants entered, the march being climaxed by the entrance of the bride on the arm of her father.

The bride was attired in an ivory satin gown, with a beaded sweetheart neckline and leg of mutton sleeves, tapering to points over the hands. The gown was fashioned with a fitted bodice and flared skirt with a long train. The 16-foot length veil was attached to a tiara of pearls. She wore rhinestone earrings, the gift of the groom, and pearls. She carried a colonial bouquet of Johanna Hill roses and mums.

The maid of honor, Miss Beatta Olson, cousin of the bride, wore a fitted gown of white velvet, fashioned with a wide, low neckline, cap sleeves, a front drape and large bow across the back. She carried a colonial bouquet of pink carnations and mums and wore a white ruffled headdress trimmed with white flowers. She also wore rhinestone earrings, given her by the bride, and long white gloves.

The bridesmaids, who were Mrs. Pearl McDermott of Chicago, sister of the groom, and Miss Rebecca Ueland, sister of the bride, wore gowns identical to that worn by the maid of honor, except that they were ice blue. They carried colonial bouquets of red carnations and mums, wore blue ruffled headdresses and blue earrings given them by the bride. They also wore long white gloves.

Little Kathryn Diane Ueland, acting as flower girl, was dressed in a long white ? gloves and a white ruffled headdress.

The mothers of the bride and groom were gowned in blue and wore carnation and mum corsages, as did the grandmother of the bride and the organist.

The best man was Orville Nystad, of Northfield, Minn., a brother of the groom. Robert Ueland, brother of the bride, and Robert Neullah of Owatonna, Minn., a friend, were ushers.

Before the ceremony, Miss Rebecca Ueland sang "Oh Promise Me" which was also sung at the wedding of the bride’s parents. Soft nuptial music was played on the organ during the ceremony. Immediately following the ceremony, Miss Ueland sang Malotte;s "Lord’s Prayer;" then Mendelssohn’s recessional was played.

Following the wedding, a reception was held in the church parlors, at which about 60 relatives and friends were present. A short program was given, with the Rev. Mr. Fleischmann acting as toastmaster.

The table at which a simple lunch was served, was decorated in white and blue. A lovely wedding cake and candles graced the center of the table. A wreath of holly decorated the base of the cake.

After a short wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Nystad returned to Northfield, where, since Jan. 5, the have been at home to their friends at 417 St. Olaf avenue.

Following the groom’s graduation from Loyal high school in 1945, he entered the air corps. At present he is a student at St. Olaf’s college in Northfield, where he is majoring in Chemistry.

Those from Loyal who attended the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nystad, Wanda, Mary and Jeanne Nystad, Mr. and Mrs. Julius M. Nystad and daughter, Betty, and Donald Beaver.
