Rowe, Joseph J. (8 Jan 1822 - 24 Jan 1913)

Joseph J. Rowe was born in Pennsylvania on Jan. 8, 1822.  Died at Rice Lake Jan. 24, 1913.  He came to Wisconsin in 1856, removing to Clark county in 1884.  For several years he lived on a farm at York Center and the later years of his life were spent with Mrs. M.B. Redmond of Rice Lake.  Deceased was the father of nine children, seven of whom survive him, one daughter, Mrs. Anna Tucker, having died about two years ago and a son dying in infancy.  The surviving children are William and Edward of Neillsville, Joseph J. of Santa Monica, Cal., Byron W. and John S. of Plymouth, Geo. S. of Marshfield and Mrs. Mary B. Redmond of Rice Lake.  He is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Deceased was a man of sterling qualities and was sincere and genuine in his friendships.  He had attained a very old age, but his life was fraught with the pleasures attendant with living a good life.  He was buried at York Center Tuesday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. Alderson of Loyal.  Deceased was buried beside his wife who died 23 years ago.
