A five-year-old boy was critically injured here Monday morning when a car backed into him while he played with a companion on a curbing.

Danny Boardman, 5, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Boardman, was playing with a friend, picking up stones, at the curbing near Joe Turenne’s South Side Store at 11:40 a.m. when a car driven by Mrs. Frank Broeren of Thorp, struck him.  She had just turned the corner.

The boy was rushed to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls where it was said that he had suffered from a concussion and severe scalp cuts.  It was reported that an operation was performed immediately, but that X-rays of the boy couldn’t be taken for a day or two.

Mr. Broeren, it was reported, had just been to the store and was on her way home when the mishap occurred.
