Klahn, Martin (05 JAN 1892-27 JULY 1947)

 

Martin Klahn, 55, a former resident of Loyal, who farmed near Medford the past 23 years, died at 8 a.m. Sunday, July 27, at the Wisconsin General hospital in Madison. Mr. Klahn was born in the town of Loyal on Jan. 5, 1892, and was married at Cochran on June 22, 1921, to Ruth Baker He was a member of the American Legion. He was a good neighbor and highly respected in his community.

 

He spent three spring months at Tuscon, Ariz. Returning to Loyal, he lived at the home of his brother, Frank, until going to Madison. His death was a result of a heart ailment and complications, occurred a week after his entry in the hospital there.

 

A military funeral, with the American Legion in charge, was held at the Loyal funeral home last Wednesday. The Rev. Lee Holmes officiated. The hymns "Old Rugged Cross: and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," were sung by Mrs. Ray Prior and Mrs, Calvin Prior, with Miss LaVonne Smith as accompanist.

 

Serving as pallbearers were six nephews, Leon Kline, Harold Haslow, Keith Baker, Larry Kline, Calvin Baker and Lawrence Kline.

 

Surviving, besides his widow, are four brothers, Frank of Loyal, Ira of Spencer, Fred of Portland, Cal., and Charles of Washington, and two sisters Mrs. Ed Haslow and Mrs E. J. Mitchell of Manitowish.

H. Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Courtland Hamel, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Anderson and daughter, Babette, and Robert Williams of Withee, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Irvine and Mr. and Mrs. William Bartell of Greewood, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Baker of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Baker and Calvin Baker of Sharon, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Baker, Gerald Baker and Mrs. Olive Edwardson of Stanley, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kline of Stevens Point, and Joan and Beverly Williams of Chicago.

 

The Tribune extends to the bereaved its sympathy in the loss of a beloved relative.
