Bartell, Henry Emil (23 February 1873 - 1 September 1957) 
 

Henry Emil Bartell, 84, of Milwaukee and Neillsville, died September 1 at the home of his daughter in Milwaukee.  Funeral services were held Wednesday from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.  The Rev. Alfred Schewe officiated.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. 
 

Mr. Bartell was born February 23, 1873, in the Town of Wolf River, East Bloomfield, the son of the late Wilhelm and Augusta (Draeger) Bartell.  He attended the East Bloomfield schools, coming to Neillsville in 1897.  His marriage to the former Emma Krause took place November 10, 1892, at East Bloomfield. 
 

Mr. Bartell was a real estate salesman and also served the city of Neillsville as alderman for 20 years.  He was chairman of the public works board for nine years, and was city assessor for several years.  He retired from civic activities and five years ago went to Milwaukee to make his home with his daughters.  He was active in church and civic affairs.  His last visit to Neillsville was made two years ago. 
 

He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at Neillsville. 
 

He is survived by five children: Paul A. Bartell, Neillsville; Mrs. Libbie Meade, Milwaukee; Mrs. Lydia Petri, Milwaukee; Erwin Bartell, Ripon; Mrs. George (Clara) Schnug, Coral Gables, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Ida Reinke of Weyauwega.  Also surviving are five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. 
 

Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home of Neillsville.
