Weller, George H. (May 4, 1920 - December 27, 2009)

 
George H. Weller, 89, Colby, passed away Sunday December 27, 2009 at the Colonial Center in Colby.

 
George was born May 4, 1920 in the Town of Hull to Fred and Katherine (Fenzel) Weller.  
 

He attended a Country Grade School in rural Colby until the eighth grade after which he helped his parents farm.  
 

George married the former Loretta Stettler on September 9, 1944 at the First United Church of Christ in Colby.  
 

A short time later George took over the family farm in the Town of Hull also working for the Colby Cheese Box Factory in Colby until its closing. In 1970 George sold the farm and moved to the city of Colby working for the Packaging Corporation of America in Colby retiring in 1985. George enjoyed traveling with tour groups and tinkering with plumbing and electrical projects. He was a lifetime member of the First United Church of Christ in Colby serving on various boards and was the church custodian.

 
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Loretta Weller of Colby; a daughter, Eileen (Russ) Dahl of Colby; a son, Richard (Cathy) Weller of Burnsville, Minn.; five grandchildren, Debbie, Darron, Tina, Amy, Laura; four step-grandchildren, Vallerie, Scott, Jeffrey, Julie, eight great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; four step great-great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Lawrence (Adelle) Stettler of Abbotsford.

 
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Elsie, Dorothy and Hilda.

 
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at First United Church of Christ in Colby at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Marlea Gilbert presiding. Burial will follow in the Colby Memorial Cemetery in the Town of Colby.

 
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Wednesday.
