McCarl, John (14 December 1869 - 31 May 1956) 
 

John McCarl, 86, of Neillsville, Rt. 1, died Thursday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been a patient for two weeks. 
 

Funeral services were conducted Sunday from the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church at Granton.  The Rev. A. A. Oswald, pastor of the church, officiated at the rites and interment took place in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery at Granton.  The body reposed at the Georgas Funeral Home from Friday until noon Sunday, when it was taken to the church. 
 

Mr. McCarl was born December 14, 1869, in Waupaca County to George and Dina (Hitchcock) McCarl.  At the age of eight he came with his parents to Clark County, where he received his education. He had been a resident of Clark County all but the first eight years of his life.  He farmed his father’s farm and retired five years ago from active farming.  He had undergone major surgery two weeks ago.  
 

His marriage to Amanda Heisler took place September 16, 1927, at Auburndale. 
 

He is survived by his wife and one sister, Mrs. Olive Hagie of California. 
 

Pallbearers were: Frank Hoeser, Herman Buchholz, Arnold and Leonard Drescher, Ernest and Arthur Kuechenmeister.  Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Leonard Drescher, Mrs. Arthur Hubing, Misses Marcella and Lydia Schune. 
 

The following persons from out of town attended the rites: Mr. and Mrs. Al Heisler and family, Chili; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Heisler, Unity; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Doughty, Junction City; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mundt; Dancy; Ray Heisler, Milwaukee and Earl Conlin, Woodbridge, Va.
