Buker, Ella (1 September 1873 - 9 March 1956) 
 

Mrs. Ella (Hemp) Buker, 82, of 116 W. 6th Street, Neillsville, died Friday at the Neillsville Nursing Home.   
 

Funeral services were conducted Monday from the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Neillsville.  The Rev. Albert Guthmiller and the Rev. Charles Koch of Greenwood officiated.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.  The body reposed at the Georgas Funeral Home until one hour prior to services, when it was taken to the church.  
 

Mrs. Buker was born September 1, 1873, in Greenwood, to James and Jane (Hemstock) Christie. The family farmed in the Eaton Center area, where she received her elementary education. She worked out as a young girl until her marriage to Adolph Hemp of Neillsville on October 14, 1889.  Mr. Hemp preceded her in death on December 18, 1919.  At the time of his death Mr. Hemp operated the Trogner Mill, which is now the location of the Fullerton Lumber Company. They also farmed the Charles Tews farm on North Grand Avenue until the spring of 1907.  After the death of Mr. Hemp she made her home with her daughter and with her brother at Greenwood. 
 

While in Greenwood she met Edward Buker, and they were married May 14, 1922.  Mr. Buker died February 23, 1954. 
 

She continued to live in Greenwood until August 27, 1955, when she moved to Neillsville.  She entered the nursing home December 19, 1955. 
 

Mrs. Buker is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Elvira) Neff, Sr. of Neillsville; and a brother Joseph Christie of Chetek.  Two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.   
 

Mrs. Buker was a member of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church of Neillsville. 
 

Pallbearers were: Theo. Mitte, Arthur Wegner, Leo Hemp, Herman Hemp, John Poppe and Harvey Grap.  Miss Sarah Albrecht, accompanied by Mrs. J. Grether, sang two selections. 
 

Out of town relatives attending services were: Mrs. Robert Manthey, Portage; Theodore Buker, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Buker, Mrs. Hugh Christie, Mrs. Kit Christie, Mrs. Edward Timmler, Sr., Mrs. George Hoehne, Mrs. Hugh Severson, Rose Ludwig, Mrs. Eleanor Plank, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Weast, Mrs. Calvin Franz, William Decker, William Goeke, Mrs. Edwin Hohl, Mrs. Anita Miller, Mrs. Robert Bartelt, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Speich, Miss Violet Speich, Mrs. Caroline Horn, all of Greenwood; and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shaw, Marshfield.
