Portz, Josephine Matilda (14 November, 1879 - 27 November 1955) 
 

Josephine Matilda Portz, 76, of Granton, Rt. 1, died at the Portz home in the Town of Lynn, Sunday, November 27, of carcinoma of the throat. 
 

Funeral services were set for Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical United Brethren Church at Chili, with the Rev. E. F. Antrim officiating.  The Gilbertson Funeral Home at Granton was in charge of the service, with burial in the church cemetery. 
 

Mrs. Portz, nee Nix, was born in Waukesha County November 14, 1879, and was married October 9, 1899, to Herman Portz at an Evangelical church at Waukesha. She received her education in the Waukesha schools and moved to Clark County in 1902.  her husband preceded her in death July 14, 1947. 
 

She is survived by a son, Harry, at home, two daughters, Mrs. Ervin (Dorothy) Haslow, Chili, and Mrs. David (Mabel) Gallagher, Town of Fremont; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Papenheimer of Granton and Mrs. Emma Jorgensen, Marshfield. 
 

She was preceded in death by one son, Ellis, two brothers and three sisters.
