Mehner, Ernest B. (25 June 1939 - 22 Dec. 2009) 
 

DORCHESTER -- Ernest "Ernie" B. Mehner Jr., 70, of Dorchester, died, Dec. 22, 2009, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. 
 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Salem Methodist Church in Dorchester. The Rev. Dr. Michael Adedokun will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, at the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Dorchester; and again at the church Saturday one hour prior to the service. Following the service, full military rites will be conducted by Dorchester American Legion Post No. 517. 
 

Ernest was born June 25, 1939, in Dorchester to Ernest Sr. and Laura (Hurth) Mehner. He attended and graduated from Dorchester High School. After school, he enlisted in the Army and later served in the National Guard. 
 

He married the love of his life, Shirley A. Miller, on July 25, 1964. He was gainfully employed by Conceco Equipment until retirement. In his spare time, he repaired TVs and radios. 
 

He was active in his community. He was involved with both Dorchester and Medford Methodist churches. He was a 30-year member of the Black River Amateur Radio Club, doing various things. He took great pride in his town and especially enjoyed helping with the Dorchester Museum. 
 

He is lovingly survived by Shirley Mehner, his wife of 45 years; his two children, Lori (James) Aldinger of Medford, and Matthew (Kelly) Mehner of Wausau; three grandchildren, Andrea, Harley and Kendra Aldinger. He is further survived by one sister, Rachel Jones of Milwaukee; one brother, Bruce, of Colorado; and a niece, Tammy Prough of Kansas. 
 

He will be missed by his good K-9 friend Emma. 
 

He is preceded in death by his parents.
