Weller, George H. (4 May 1920 - 27 Dec. 2009) 
 

COLBY -- George H. Weller, 89, of Colby, passed away Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at the Colonial Center in Colby. 
 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at First United Church of Christ in Colby, with Pastor Marlea Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in the Colby Memorial Cemetery in the town of Colby. Pallbearers will be Darron Dahl, Jeffrey Dahl, Christopher Sablich, Brad Newman, John Johnson and Jeremy Edwards. 
 

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services at the church Wednesday. 
 

George was born May 4, 1920, in the town of Hull to Fred and Katherine (Fenzel) Weller. He attended a Country Grade School in rural Colby until the eighth grade after which he helped his parents farm. George married the former Loretta Stettler on Sept. 9, 1944, at the First United Church of Christ in Colby. 
 

A short time later, George took over the family farm in the town of Hull, also working for the Colby Cheese Box Factory in Colby until its closing. In 1970, George sold the farm and moved to the city of Colby, working for the Packaging Corporation of America in Colby, retiring in 1985. 
 

George enjoyed traveling with tour groups and tinkering with plumbing and electrical projects. He was a lifetime member of the First United Church of Christ in Colby serving on various boards, and was the church custodian. 
 

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Loretta Weller, of Colby; a daughter, Eileen (Russ) Dahl of Colby; a son, Richard (Cathy) Weller of Burnsville, Minn.; five grandchildren, Debbie, Darron, Tina, Amy and Laura; four stepgrandchildren, Vallerie, Scott, Jeffrey and Julie; eight great-grandchildren, 13 stepgreat-grandchildren, four stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Lawrence (Adelle) Stettler of Abbotsford. 
 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Elsie, Dorothy and Hilda.
