Awe, Arnold  (06 DEC 1934-23 DEC 2009)

 

Arnold Awe, 75, Stanley, went to be with his loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec, 28, at the Faith Evangelical Free Church, Stanley. Burial followed in the Immanuel Church of Christ Cemetery, west of Greenwood.

 

Arnold Awe was born on Oct. 6, 1934, in the town of Green Grove, the second child of William George and Louise (Voightlander) Awe. He was born and raised 6 miles south of Owen and attended North Bridge County School, then went to high school at Owen, graduating in 1952. He attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in 1956. He then farmed on the family farm and was an active member in the Farm Bureau, served in the church on numerous boards as secretary, and enjoyed farming and serving in the church. He also served his country in the Army Reserves. On June 1, 1963, he married Lydia Geiken at Buffalo Center, Iowa. They were happily married for 46 years and to this union was born one son, David William (Carol) Awe, Chippewa Falls. He moved off the family farm in 1986, because of ill health, and moved south of Stanley where he continued in a limited way with serving as an agricultural nutritionist. He had a kidney transplant in 2002, and had many health issues. He was a member of the Faith Evangelical Free Church of Stanley and Gideon’s International.

 

Survivors include his wife, Lydia, Stanley; a son, David (Carol0 Awe, Chippewa Falls; a sister-in-law, Gladys Awe, Greenwood; an adopted sister, Ingrid (Harry) Meinhardt, Greenwood; a brother-in law, George (Jackie) Geiken, Mill City, Ore.; two grandchildren, William Awe, Chippewa Falls, and Beth Awe, Chippewa Falls; plus numerous cousins and friends.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents; and one brother, Calvin Awe.

 

Plombon Funeral Service, Stanley, assisted the family with arrangements.
