Bush, Elsie (Marriage - 30 Aug. 1958)

In a beautiful, natural setting of trees, banked with bouquets of multi-colored gladioli at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bush, marriage vows were exchanged between their daughter, Elsie, and Andrew J. Knopps, Saturday afternoon.

Just after the bride was given in marriage by her father, she sang "At Dawning" to the groom. The ceremony, which took place at 2:00 o’clock, was performed by Arnold Ruprich, congregation servant of Jehovah’s Witnesses, at Dorchester. During the ceremony, Miss Kathy Bush sang "O Walk With God." Herbert Juneau was accompanist.

The bride made her wedding gown of white satin. It was a princess style with deep v-neck in front and back and long sleeves with nylon lace inserts detailing the sides of the skirt. She wore a finger tip veil and carried a bouquet centered with three blue gardenias, surrounded by 12 white gardenias.

Attending their sister were Mrs. Mary Ann Smith, of Florida, as matron of honor, and Mrs. Betty Curry, of Pekin, Ill. Miss Sheryl Wilhelm, niece of the bride, Abbotsford, was flower girl and Gary Hake, Menomonie, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer.

John Behling, St. Paul, as best man and Gene Grenge, Eau Claire, friends of the groom, completed the wedding party.

The bride’s attendants were dressed alike, in floor length princess style dresses with cap sleeves which the bride made for them. They were fashioned of baby blue taffeta with white tulle. The attendants wore short, white gloves and carried baskets of red roses.

After the ceremony, a reception and dinner were given at Peace Evangelical church reception hall, Dorchester.

About 100 guests attended and came from Minneapolis, St. Paul, Warrington, Fla., Pekin, Ill., Stanley, Dorchester, Abbotsford, Wausau, Menomonie, Augusta, Medford, Manitowoc and Westboro.

Mr. and Mrs. Knopps will make their home at Augusta, where both are teaching in the high school. Mrs. Knopps, a graduate of the Abbotsford high school and Stout State College, Menomonie, teaches home economics. Mr. Knopps, who is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew C. Knopps, of Menomonie, is music director at Augusta and will receive a master’s degree in music from Colorado State College at the end of next summer.
