Brown, Nellie (27 December 1873 - 10 November 1954)

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 16, 1954, from the Georgas Funeral Home for Mrs. Elmer Brown, who died at her home in McMinnville, Ore., on November 10. She had reached the age of 81 years.

The Rev. Virgil Nulton, pastor of the Neillsville Methodist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown was born December 27, 1873, to Charles and Mary (Boon) Hannah in the Town of Weston, Clark County, where she received her elementary education.  On March 12, 1892, she was married to Oscar Northup at Neillsville.  They lived on a farm near the old county farm in the Town of York.  They made this farm their home until the death of Mr. Northup in 1936.

She then stayed with her daughter for a short time, going to Oregon to visit a sister.  While in Oregon she was married on August 30, 1942, to Elmer Brown, who at one time operated a store in Neillsville and at Christie.

Mrs. Brown was a member of the Methodist Church at McMinnville.

She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. George (Jessie) Beeckler of Neillsville, and Mrs. Ruth Hovanec of Chicago; one son, Leland of Rockford, Ill., two step-daughters, one sister, nine grandchildren and a step-grandchild.

The body reposed at the Georgas Funeral Home from Monday noon until time of services on Tuesday.

(Note: Her given name was gotten from the obit of her first husband, Oscar Northup. Dmk)
