Chapman, Mae (20 January 1877 - 7 November 1954) 
 

Mrs. Mae Chapman, 77, died Sunday, November 7, 1954, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth M. (Eleanor) Manz, 202 Clay Street, Neillsville.   
 

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 10, from the Methodist Church in Alma Center.  The Rev. Virgil Nulton, pastor of the Neillsville Methodist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the East Lawn Cemetery at Alma Center. The body reposed at the Georgas Funeral Home until noon of the day of services. 
 

Mrs. Chapman was born January 20, 1877, in Jackson County to Marcus and Caroline (Severson) Clark.  She received her education in the schools of Jackson County and was a graduate of the Alma Center High School.  She attended normal school at Stevens Point, from which she was graduated in 1900.  She taught school for several years and in 1907 was married at Alma Center to Paul Chapman, who preceded her in death in 1951.  They lived in Alma Center until 1950, when they came to make their home with their daughter in Neillsville.  Mrs. Chapman was a director of the school board and the first president of the Alma Center Civic Club. 
 

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Kenneth M (Eleanor) Manz and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Mills, Neillsville, and Mrs. Effie Knoll of Ft. Worth, Texas; also four grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted last week Wednesday for Mrs. Mae Chapman, 77, who died Sunday November 7.  Services were held from the Methodist church in Alma Center with the Rev. Virgil Nulton, pastor of the Neillsville Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial was in the East Lawn Cemetery at Alma Center. 
 

Pallbearers were: A. F. Merrill, Frank Duxbury, Eugene Thayer, James Thayer, Vincent Dwyer and Garrett Fox.  Flower ladies were: Mrs. Garrett Fox, Mrs. Frank Merrill and Mrs. Earl Randles. 
 

Close relatives attending the services were: Miss Marion Gruner, Ft. Atkinson; Mrs. George Gahan, Beloit; Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Mills, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Mills, Mrs. J. H. Mills, Robert Mills, Mrs. Robert Krohn and Mrs. H. M. Perry, all of Black River Falls; and Dr. and Mrs. W. R. Manz of Eau Claire.
