Fischer, Irvin Dewey (13 May 1898 - 26 May 1954) 
 

Irvin Dewey Fischer, 56, of Merrillan, Rt. 1, Jackson County, died May 26, 1954, at his home in Hatfield.  
 

Funeral services, in charge of Georgas Funeral Home, were held May 31, with burial in the Neillsville City Cemetery.  The Rev. Virgil Nulton officiated. 
 

Mr. Fischer was born May 13, 1898, to John and Jennie (Lapp) Fischer of Neillsville. The family lived near the mounds north of Neillsville.  He received his education in the rural schools of the county and in Neillsville.  After finishing school he worked for the Krumery Dray line.  His marriage to Beulah Harper took place November 15, 1916, at Greenwood.  Following his marriage he substituted as a rural mail carrier from the Neillsville office and then moved to Granton, where he operated a  gas station.  In June, 1921, they moved to Greenwood, where he worked as a rural mail carrier, a position he held for 32 years.  He retired in September, 1953, and moved to Hatfield, his last place of residence.  
 

Survivors are his wife, mother, a son, Robert Fischer, and one granddaughter, Jacqueline. 
 

He was preceded in death by his father. 
 

Mr. Fischer was a member of the Rural Letter Carriers Association. 
 

Pallbearers were: Don Warner, Clarence Ratch, Carl Greub, John Verhunce, George Braun and Roy Flood. 
 

Honorary pallbearers were members and former members of the Greenwood postal department: Dr. W. Barnes, W. G. Hartson, Gordon Christopherson, Richard Milan and Wesley Schwarze. 
 

Flowers were in charge of: Mrs. Carl Greub, Mrs. Clara Liebzeit, Mrs. George Braun, Mrs. W. G. Hartson and Mrs. Wesley Schwarze. 
 

Mrs. John Kleckner and Mrs. Glenn Lazotte, accompanied by Mrs. Dennis Maus at the organ, sang two selections. 
 

Persons from out of town attending the rites were: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fischer and daughter, Nekoosa; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shutter, Tomah; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Gannon, Andover, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Zellmer, Nekoosa; Mrs. Eva Warner, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Rodman, Mr. and Mrs. William Rodman, Marie Fischer, Glenn Rodman and Percy Fischer, Waukegan, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. John Lambaris and daughters, Nekoosa.
