Rose R. Kern, 100, Greenwood, died on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at the Clark County Health Care Center,Owen. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood. The Rev. Terri Blomberg officiated. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

 

Rose Ruth Kern was born on Aug. 4, 1909, in Greenwood, to George, to George and Lena (nee Sundermeyer) Kern. She was raised on the family farm in the town of Warner, and received her education in the Greenwood area. As a young lady, she moved to Chicago, where she worked as a maid and nanny. She later went to work at Western Electric as a clerk. She moved back to Greenwood in the 1950s to help her brothers, Ted and Eddie, on the farm and to take care of her parents. She lived in the Greenwood area until entering the Clark County Health Care Center on July 23, 2003. She had many interests, but especially enjoyed cooking, auctions and flea markets.

 

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding her in death were her parents; five brothers, George Kern, Clarence Kern, Eddie Kern, Ted Kern and William Kern; and three sisters, Mabel Moldenhauer, Hazel Mueller and Violet Seroski.

 

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
