Virkler, Leslie A. #2 (1897? - 7 OCT 1954)

 

Leslie A. Virkler, 57, Vice-president of Blue Moon Foods, Inc. of Thorp, who passed away at the Marshfield Hospital on Thursday, Oct. 7th, 1954, was buried at Carthage, N.Y., his birthplace, on Tuesday, Oct. 12th.

 

A solemn high requiem Mass was held at St. James R. C. Church for the deceased, at Carthage and military services were conducted by the Carthage American legion Post at the Carthage Cemetery.  Mr. Virkler was a veteran of both World War I and II.  He retired in 1945 with the rank of Major.

 

Services for the deceased were held at Marshfield on Friday evening, Oct. 8th and the remains shipped to Carthage, N.Y., for interment.  Mr. and Mrs. Harold Oldroyd of Thorp accompanied Mrs. Lucie Virkler, arriving in Carthage, Sunday, Oct. 10th.

 

Mr. Virkler was well known nationally throughout the dairy industry and the high esteem in which his friendship was held was indicated by the many floral tributes and personal attendants at the services.  Pallbearers were Harold Oldroyd, Thorp; William Pope, Philadelphia; Stanley McAdam, Ogdensburg, N.Y.; Ned Bandler Jr., New York City; W. Bayley, Syracuse, N.Y., and J. A. Griffen, Carthage, N.Y.
