Frank R. Vazquez, 62, Neillsville, died on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at his home on Sidney Ave. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 5-8 p.m. at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, with a 7:30 p.m. Masonic Lodge Service, and again on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 11-11:45 a.m. until the time of services at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Frank Ramon Vazquez, the son of Frank and Violeta Salorio Vazquez, was born on Nov. 23, 1946, in Queens, New York. He attended Wheatley High School in Long Island, earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Ohio Wesleyan University, and then went to Law School at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned his juris doctorate in 1971. After law school, he moved to Neillsville and joined Wayne Trimberger in private practice to form Trimberger and Vazquez Attorneys at Law. On July 1, 1971, he married Lorna Rae Thomas in Wisconsin Rapids. He stayed in private practice for 19 years. For many of those years, he also served as the city attorney and the Neillsville School Board’s attorney. From 1990 to the present, he was corporation counsel for Clark County.

 

He was a member of the Neillsville Rotary Club, a founding member of the Neillsville-Marshfield chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society, and the president of the Neillsville Library Foundation. He served a term as president as president of the Young Lawyers Division of the Wisconsin State Bar Association and also served on the State Bar Professional Ethics Committee. He was a renowned presenter and educator for the state of Wisconsin in the field of children and family law for more than 20 years. He attended the United Church of Christ, in Neillsville, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, earning 32nd degree Mason status.

 

Survivors include his wife, Lorna; his son, Nathaniel (Maureen) Vazquez, London, England; and a future grandson due in February 2010.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents.
