Haas, Grant A. (August 14, 1990 - September 3, 2009) 
 

Grant A. Haas, Age 19 years, of Colby, always with a positive attitude and fighting a courageous battle went to be with his heavenly Father Thursday, Sept 3, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

 
Grant was born August 14, 1990 in Marshfield, the son of Dean and Leah (Strack) Haas.
 
 

He attended Colby Elementary School and graduated from Colby High School in May 2009. He was accepted to UW-Green Bay were he was to pursue a degree to work behind the scenes in television. Grant had received the Herb Kohl Scholarship Initiative Award.  
 

He was very active in his high school and was involved with Colby High School Show Choir, NHS, SAAD, and prom court. Grant was also a member Cherokee Chums 4-H where he served a past officer. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. Grant was also a meamber of the Zion Lutheran Church Hand Bell Choir.

 
Grant loved poultry, flowers, antiques and restoring old machinery. He enjoyed working on his car, landscaping and traveling, especially when he traveled to New York with the school show choir.

 
Grant is survived by his parents, Dean and Leah of Colby; one sister Micaela of Colby; his maternal grandparents Wil and Darlene Strack of Athens; his paternal grandmother Evelyn Haas of Colby; and a maternal great grandmother Elva Strack of Random Lake. Grant is further survived by many aunts, uncles cousins other relatives and many friends.

 
He is preceded in death by his grandfather Elmer Haas; great grandparents Melvin and Dorothy Moths; and great grandfather Wilfred Strack, Sr.

 
His funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. The Rev. Mark Neumann presided. Burial followed in Colby Memorial Cemetery in the town of Colby. Visitation was Sunday at the church in Colby from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
 
 

Acting as his pallbearers were Brenda Rougeux, Maria Skubal, Gina Haas, Anna Peissig, Zach Diedrich and Shawn Wehrman.
