Obit: Hillert, Harold G. (9 Jan. 1926 - 27 Sept. 2009) 
 

GRANTON -- Harold G. Hillert, 83, of Granton died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, in the Palliative Care Unit of Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. 
 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Buchanan Funeral Home, Neillsville. Burial will be in the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Park Cemetery at King, with graveside military rites. 
 

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday, all at the funeral home. 
 

Harold was born Jan. 9, 1926, in the town of Fremont, Clark County, to Fred and Barbara (Frei) Hillert. He was united in marriage in Ashland to Marcella Prestil. She preceded him in death in 2000. 
 

Harold served in the U.S. Army as a field engineering with the 2nd Infantry Division, stationed in Germany and Japan during the Korean Conflict. He later worked for Graham Manufacturing in Marshfield, retiring in 1984. He moved to Granton in 2003. 
 

He is survived by two stepchildren, John (Janet) Hillert of Bayfield and Phillip (Donna) Fecteau of Lacey, Wash.; four step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson. 
 

Buchanan Funeral Home of Neillsville is handling the arrangements.
