Snyder, Benjamin (21 DEC 1897 - 29 FEB 1952)

 

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 Monday afternoon at the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin) for Benjamin Henry Snyder.  Rev. A. Meinhardt officiated at the rites and burial was at Riverside Cemetery.

 

Serving as pallbearers were six nephews, Robert and Wilmar Schlueter of Richland Center, Wis., Allen Pacholke, Joe Rogers, Russell and James Haire, all of Minneapolis.

 

Benjamin H. Snyder was born Dec. 21st, 1897 at Avoca, Wis., in Iowa County, the son of late Phillips and Mary Snyder .  It was there he received his early education, graduating from high school with the class of 1915.  He entered Normal at La Crosse, Wis., where he spent but one year due to the death of his father in 1917.

 

In 1936 he enrolled at the University of Wisconsin Agricultural school and the following year received his license as a cheese maker.

 

At Yankton, S.D., on April 29, 1939, he and Miss Ella Thorson of Withee (Clark Co.), Wis., were united in holy matrimony and in 1942 moved to Beloit, Wis., where Ben was employed at the Beloit Iron Works.  He passed away very suddenly, on Friday morning, Feb. 29th, 1952, at his home.

 

He leaves to mourn, his wife, two sisters, Mrs. Ed (Aleda) Schlueter, and Mrs. Fred (Gertie) Schlueter, of Richland Center; besides a number of nieces and nephews.  A brother, Ed Snyder, preceded him in death in 1946.

 

At the services two numbers were sung by Mrs. A. Meinhardt, "No Night There and Beyond the Sunset," with Mrs. Herman Rabska accompanist.  Flower girls were Nieces: Mrs. Russell Haire, Mrs. Allen Pacholke, Mrs. Joe Rogers and Mrs. James Haire, all of Minneapolis.

 

Those attending services from away were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schlueter, and two sons, Robert and Wilmar of Richland Center; Mr. Al Thorson, Jr. of Fond du Lac; Mr. Adolph Erickson of Larson; Mrs. Clarence Schultz of Neenah, and Mrs. Oscar Pope of Oshkosh, Wis.; Mrs. Wilbur Johnson and Mrs. Russell Anderson of Marshfield, Wis.; Mrs. Harriet Wonn of Stanley; Herbert Haire, Bess and Sadie Thorson all of Minneapolis; Besides a host  of friends and relatives of the surrounding communities.
