Genteman, Henry (20 March 1878 - 29 April 1952)

 

Henry Genteman, age 74, died at his home in the Town of Levis on April 29, following an illness of four years.

 

Funeral services were conducted on Friday at 1:30 from the Georgas Funeral Home and at two o’clock from St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Alfred Schewe officiating.  Burial was made in the city cemetery.

 

Mr. Genteman was born on March 20, 1878, in Austria to John and Barbara Maier Genteman. On  October 1, 1904, he was married to Catherine Undershutz in Austria.  They came to this country and located in Chicago, where he was employed for several years.  In 1920 they came to Wisconsin and settled on a farm in the Town of Levis where he farmed until 1946, when he retired due to ill health.

 

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

 

He is survived by his wife and two children: Mrs. Frank (Elsie) Newbecker, and Mrs. Herbert (Eleanor) Schoenherr; and seven grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Henrietta, who died in 1920 at the age of three years, one sister, Mrs. Kathryn Meck, and two brothers, Phillip and Carl.

 

Pallbearers were: William Genteman, William R. Genteman, Robert Genteman, Henry Genteman, Edward Genteman and Richard Federico.

 

The children of the upper grades of the Lutheran School sang two selections accompanied by Victor Lehmann at the organ.

 

Persons from out of town attending the rites included Mr. and Mrs. Sam Federico and family, Mrs. Ruth Werba and Henry Genteman of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Art Kubyun of McHenry, Ill.
