Parker, Emma E. (31 JAN 1851 - 5 APR 1910)

Miss Emma F. Mead was born at Cedar Creek, Wis., on the 31st day of January, 1851.  In 1872 she came to Clark County with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Mead.  In 1873 she lost her mother, who was followed by her father in 1875.  With this she was thrown wholly upon her own resources.  On Nov. 26, 1881, she became the happy wife of Hezekiah Parker.  On Sept. 25, 1882, a pair of twins were born, who were the pride of both father and mother, and were named Etty and Retty.  On Feb. 23, 1885, little Etty, the larger and stronger of the two, was taken away by the dreaded disease, membranous croup.  On May 22, 1886, the second pair of twins, John L. and Lovella I., were born.  Again both father and mother were happy, which last until Feb. 13, 1904, when she was called upon to give up her aged husband.  Mrs. Parker then gave up the farm and moved to the city of Neillsville, settling on the north side.

Early in Feb. 1910 she was taken sick and it was found she had to undergo an operation.  On April 1, 1910, she was taken to the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, followed by her three children, two sisters, and friends.  After the operation she seemed to show every indication of recovery.  On April 4 she was suddenly taken worse, and on the 5th died at the age of 59 years, 2 months and 3 days.  She is survived by her children, Retty, John, and Mrs. Roy Bissell, son-in-law, Roy Bissell, on grandchild, Blanche Bissell, three step-children, Edward Parker, Millard Parker, of Spring Valley, Wis., and L. Garvin of Seattle, Wash., and two sisters, Mrs. Rettie Stocker and Mrs. S. E. Best of Boyceville, Wis., and a host of relatives and friends.
