Chas. D. Cannon died last Saturday at Elk Mound, and the remains were brought here (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.) Monday and interred in the Neillsville Cemetery.  Chas. Cannon was born at Plainfield, Wis., on Aug. 5, 1870, and when one year of age came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Cannon, to Clark county, later removing to Neillsville when he was 14 years of age.  He was married to Esther Steiner of Elk Mound on Oct. 30, 1904, and to this union one son was born.  When Mr. Cannon was 15 years of age he took up the vocation of telegraph operator and has worked for the Northwestern and the Northern Pacific railroads.  He located at Elk Mound ten years ago, and three years ago was compelled to go west on account of his failing health.  About four weeks ago he returned to Elk Mound and there his death took place.

Mr. Cannon was a high type of young manhood, was honorable, capable and energetic and his demise is sincerely regretted by all his friends.  He is survived by his wife and three-year-old son, sisters, Mable E. Cannon and Lydia P. Cannon.  The remains were accompanied here from Elk Mound by his wife, his father-in-law, Geo. Steiner, brothers-in-law, Wm. And Herbert Steiner, and uncle, Wm. Steiner, of Independence.
