Haas, Lorenz #2 (19 JAN 1861 - 21 AUG 1909)

 

Lorenz Haas, who met with a runaway accident on the Seward Way farm Monday of last week and sustained a broken neck, died at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital last Saturday.  Mr. Haas was taken to the hospital Thursday for an x-ray examination, but he died before an operation could be made.

 

Lorenz Haas was born in Sheboygan County on Jan. 19, 1861, and grew to manhood there.  He was married in 1886 and in 1889 moved to Kaukauna, where he resided eight years.  Three years ago he moved with his family to Clark Co. (Wis.), purchasing the Benick farm three miles northeast of Neillsville.

 

Deceased was an excellent citizen, sober and industrious, was honest in his business dealings, and his death is a sad bereavement to his family and to his friends.  He is survived by his wife and nine children.  The children are: Margaret of Superior, Jacob and home, Kathryn of St. Paul, Marie, Marten, Bernard, Aloys, Nelly and Joseph.

 

The funeral was held yesterday morning at 10:00 o’clock at St. Mary’s Church, Father Dorrenbach officiating.  Among those present at the funeral were: Joe Haas of Stanley, Mr. and Mrs. Math. Haas of Kaukauna, John Haas of Sheboygan, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Haas and Chris Wheeler of St. Paul.
