Schorer, Louis Gottwald (3 Mar. 1889 - 29 Oct. 1950)

Funeral services for Louis Gottwald Schorer, 61 years old, who died unexpectedly of a heart attack at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the First Evangelical and Reformed church at Colby, of which the deceased was a member. The Rev. F. P. Puhlman officiated and burial was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

Pallbearers were William Gibson, Oshkosh; Walter Krueger and Harold Strade, Curtiss; Verland Schorer, Jim Falls; Fritz Schorer, Colby; and Reinhold Werner, Sheboygan.

The flowers were carried by his two grand daughters, the Misses Darlene and Dianne Schorer, Stevens Point; and the following nieces, Mrs. Charles Ohlinger, Colby; Mrs. Lawrence Tlusty, Medford; Mrs. Clarence Weller, Abbotsford; Miss Grace Schorer, Milwaukee; Miss Delores Strade, Curtiss; and Miss Viola Nickisch, Sheboygan.

Louis Schorer was born March 3, 1889, in Sheboygan county. He lived on a farm with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Schorer, until he was 14 when he went to Millersville to learn the blacksmith trade with his brother, Rudolph and followed this trade all his life. In 1909 he went to Colby and in 1915 he moved to Curtiss, coming to Abbotsford in 1929 where he since lived.

His marriage to Ella Strade took place in Curtiss May 17, 1911.

Places of business in Abbotsford were closed during the time of the funeral to pay respect to Mr. Schorer who was a trustee on the village board.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Norman, Stevens Point; two grand children; two brothers, Rudolph, Millersville, and Fred, Sheboygan; and four sisters, Mrs. Lena Lemke, Milwaukee; Mrs. Emma Schultz, Sheboygan Falls; Mrs. Anna Klein, Elkhart Lake; and Mrs. Frieda Bolz, New Holstein.

Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Those from away who attended the funeral included: Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Schorer, Mrs. Harvey Schorer, Mrs. Freida Bolz, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schorer, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Strade, Mr. and Mrs. Reinholt Werner, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Klein, Mrs. Alfred Nickisch, Mrs. Frank Wensauer, and Mr. and Mrs. John Pfister, Sheboygan; Mr. and Mrs. William Gerlach, Mrs. Arno Borkhart and family and Mrs. Herman Schultz, Sheboygan Falls.
