Merow, Gertrude (Marriage - 1 March 1952)

Miss Gertrude Merow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Merow of Alma Center, became the bride of W. James Schultz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Schultz of Alma Center, at a candlelight service at &:30 p.m. March 1 at the Methodist Church in Alma Center. Rev. Brooks, pastor of the church officiated at the double ring ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father.

The bride’s gown was of white satin with a mandarin collar, wide peplum edged with lace, the lace continuing from the peplum around the long train. She wore a headdress trimmed with seed pearls, from which fell her lace trimmed fingertip veil. She wore a string of pearls, a gift of the groom and carried a bouquet of red roses.

Mrs. Frank Krapata, sister of the bride, was matron-of-honor. She wore a gown of yellow lace over satin, and carried a bouquet of white roses. Miss Marlyn Skarr, Merrillan, a friend of the bride, was bridesmaid. She wore a gown of blue lace over satin, and carried white roses. Barbara Ray Paulson of Sparta, a friend of the bride, was attired in a gown of white satin and matching hat; she served as flower girl.

The groom’s attendants were Frank Krapata, best man, and Eddie Harmon, groomsman. Leonard Siren, Beloit and LaVern Johns, Alma Center, were ushers.

Mrs. Schler sang two solos accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Blencoe.

The bride was educated in Black River Falls High School, after which she was employed at a restaurant in Sparta. The groom was educated in North Branch public school and Alma Center High School, and has employment in Beloit.

The bride’s mother was attired in a gray satin gown and the groom’s mother wore a blue satin taffeta gown, each with a corsage of white carnations.

Following the ceremony pictures were taken in the church, after which a reception was held in the church parlors for 150 guests. Waitresses were: Gloria Cummings, Carol Stoddard and Louise Bergerson. June Zelmer had charge of the guest book.

After the reception a dance was held in the Bohemian Hall, south of Merrillan. The Nemitz Brothers of Neillsville furnished the music.

The young couple will make their home in Beloit.

Out of town guests attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Oens, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Berg, Mrs. Clara Krause, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Schultz and son, Ronald, and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Lautenbach and son, all of Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Leon Kapfer, Mr. and Mrs. Ordie Marshall, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Marshall, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Schultz, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Schultz and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schultz, and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Krause, all of Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schultz and daughter, Lucille and husband, Mr. and Mrs. John Schultz and Mr. and Mrs. Senett, Richland Center; Mrs. Bessie Osgood, Racine; Mrs. Diaz and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rolgner, Chicago; and Leonard Siren, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Larson and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Eggin, Beloit.
