Chapple, Joe Mitchell (1867? - 17 Apr. 1950)

Ashland - Joe Mitchell Chapple, one of the most prominent speakers in America and founder of the Ashland Daily Press, died at Miami, Florida, Monday night. Burial was made there today.

Mr. Chapple, 83, had lived at Miami and Boston since selling the paper to a brother, the late John C. Chapple.

He founded the Press 62 years ago. After leaving Ashland, Mr. Chapple edited the National magazine in Boston for many years.

Mr. Chapple will be remembered here as the commencement speaker for the high school graduating class of 1948.
