Johnson, Gertrude (3 June 1921 - 30 May 2009)

Gertrude Johnson, 87, of Neillsville died Saturday, May 30, 2009, in her residence at the Neillsville Retirement community.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Globe. The Rev. John Warmuth will officiate. Interment will be in the Marie Louise Chapel Cemetery in Christie. Visitations will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Gesche Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church.

Gertrude Isabelle Murphy was born June 3, 1921, in Greenwood to Frank Walter and Lucille Agnes (Macknick) Murphy. She married Nels Arnold Johnson on Feb. 28, 1945, in Stanley. He died in 1991. They farmed most of their lives and raised their six children in Christie.

She is survived by her children, LeRoy (Barbara) Johnson of Granton, Gary (Becky) Johnson of Dubois, Wyo., Diane (Jerry) Steltenpohl of Marquette, Mich., Charles (Judy) Johnson of Greenwood, Marcia (Rick) Ziegler of Neillsville and Kathy (Dale) Reiter of Waverly, Iowa; 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and sisters Fran Ormond of Christie and Marjorie (Jim) Kurasz of Dubois, Wyo.
