Walter, Dorothy R. (8 MAY 1945)

At 9 o’clock last week Tuesday morning Miss Dorothy R. Walter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Walter of route one, Greenwood, became the bride of Robert W. Weyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Weyer of Loyal. The nuptial ceremony was read before the flower-decked altar of St. Anthony’s Catholic church by the Rev. Aloys Zinthefer, with St. Anthony’s school choir singing the responses.

The bride wore a dress of white marquisette with brocaded lilies of the valley and made with a fitted and long sleeves coming to points over the wrists. Her finger-tip veil of illusion was caught to a rhinestone crown, and for jewelry she wore her mother’s pearls. The bridal bouquet was an arrangement of pink roses.

Miss Anna Weyer of Milwaukee, sister of the groom, as maid of honor, wore a yellow net over taffeta dress, styled with a fitted bodice buttoned down the back, a long full skirt and elbow-length sleeves. Miss Margaret Walter of Milwaukee, sister of the bride, in an orchid frock was bridesmaid. Both wore matching Dutch bonnet hats and lavaliers, gifts of the bride, and carried sweet peas, carnations and snapdragons.

Franklin Walter of Greenwood, a brother of the bride, and Francis Elsinger of Loyal, cousin of the groom, attended the bridegroom.

The mothers of both the bride and the groom wore printed dresses of rayon jersey, with black accessories, and corsages of carnations pinned to their shoulders.

Following the service, breakfast was served to the bridal party and dinner to 90 guests at the Walter home, decorated with white, yellow and orchid streamers and large wedding cake, topped with a miniature bride and groom ornament, centered the bride’s table. Miss Ann Walter made the cake for the wedding; Mrs. Albert Schecklman, Mrs. Bonnie Wehe, Mrs. George Schmidt and Mrs. Roman Goetz acted as cooks; Misses Mildred Oestreich, Margaret Schuld, Marcelene Hannan and Bernita Lueck waited on table.

Supper was served at the Walter home, and later a wedding dance was given at the Eagles hall in Marshfield.

Mrs. Weyer, a graduate of the Loyal high school with the class of 1943, has been employed in Marshfield and Loyal. She and her husband will reside on the groom’s farm on route two, Loyal.
