Arthur Hubert Sauer was born in Barton, WI on November 23, 1925, to Michael and Gertrude (Van Beek) Sauer. He was united in marriage to Annabelle Hefter on October 9, 1948, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Nenno, WI. The couple first farmed on the homestead, in the Town of Barton, for seven years. Since farming was Arthur’s passion, they relocated to Fillmore, WI where they progressed with larger acreage from 1955-1965. Ultimately, Arthur and Annabelle and their six children moved to Thorp, WI in 1966 to farm over 1,000 acres until retiring in 1996.

After retiring, Arthur enjoyed escorting oversized truck loads along with his son, and creating all forms of wood and metal crafts. He took great pride in any task and perfected it to amazement. Arthur and Annabelle enjoyed many scenic trips and playing cards with family and friends.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Annabelle, of Thorp; three daughters: Carol (Dennis) Hedler of Wasilla, AK, Patricia Raven of Hayward, WI, and Elaine (Frank) Horn of Thorp; two sons: Michael Sauer of Thorp, and Jeff (April) Sauer of Thorp; one son-in-law, LaVern Stewart of Eau Claire; 22 grandchildren: Jill, Eric, Sara, Angela, Julie, Lisa, David, Neil, Steven, Heidi, Marcus, Cassandra, Nicole, Jessica, Scott, Melissa, Stephen, Stefani, Karlyle, Melani, Luke and Mikal; and five great-grandchildren: Hannah, Dalton, Murray, Joseph, and Everett. Arthur also will be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Darlene Sauer in 2008, one sister, Dorothy Beck, and her husband Carl; and one brother-in-law, Matt Gundrum.
