Brede, Roy H. (14 FEB 1927 - 7 SEP 2013)

Roy H. Brede, 86, Rib Lake, died on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Heritage Manor in Rice Lake.

Funeral services were held on September 21 at First Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, with Rev. Jerry Bernecker officiating. Military rites were performed by the Rice Lake Veterans Center Honor Guard. He was placed in the Honor Wall at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spooner.

Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

Roy H. Brede, age 86, of Rice Lake, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Heritage Manor in Rice Lake, WI.

Roy Brede was born to Bernhard “Ben” and Lydia (Amacher) Brede on February 14, 1927 in Medford, WI. Roy enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944 and was honorably discharged in 1946 as a Petty Officer 3rd Class.

Roy’s working life was spent in the Insurance business as an Agent and District Manager as well as a Chartered Life Underwriter for Equitable Life Assurance Society. He was married to Leonora (Neutzling) Blaske on August 27, 1982 at First Lutheran Church in Rice Lake. Roy was a member of the Rice Lake American Legion.

Roy Brede is survived by his wife, Leonora “Leo” Brede of Rice Lake, WI; 2 sons, Fred Brede of Osceola, WI and Thomas Brede of North Chesterfield, VA; 2 daughters, Jerre (Fred) Littlefield of Cumberland, WI and Susan Quarterley of Springfield, OR; 3 stepdaughters, Susan Koenitzer, Cheryl Blaske and Debra Healy; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Lila Slack of Cocoa, FL and Margaret Kinderman of Eau Claire, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 21, 2013 at First Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, Rev. Jerry Bernecker officiating, with Military Rites accorded by the Rice Lake Veterans Center Honor Guard. Roy will be placed in the Honor Wall at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spooner, WI. Visitation will be held from 4 - 7 PM Friday, September 20, 2013 at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and for one hour prior to the service at the Church.
