James E. Hinker, 70, of Greenwood, Wisconsin died Wednesday, may 13, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

 

James Edwin Hinker was born May 12, 1939, in Greenwood, the son of Sylvester and Barbara (Pink) Hinker. He was raised in Greenwood and received his education at St. Mary’s Catholic School and Greenwood High School.

 

Jim went to work for Wuethrich’s Creamery (Grassland Dairy Products) in Greenwood in September of 1955. He enlisted in the Army National Guard June 28, 1959, and served until his honorable discharge June 27, 1965. Jim returned to Greenwood and continued working at Wuethrich’s. He was united in marriage to Carolyn S. Pagelsdorf June 11, 1966, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal. They lived in Greenwood, and Jim worked at Grassland Dairy Products until retiring after 48 years of employment in 2003.

 

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Greenwood American Legion Post #238, the Greenwood Lions Club and the Dairyland Fox & Coon Hunters Club, where he served as president for many years. Jim had many interests, but especially enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, watching sports, bowling, softball, and golfing.

 

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Carolyn, of Greenwood; three children, Scott (Jennifer) Hinker of Wausau, Shelli (Greg) LaBarre of Eau Claire and Susan (Kevin) Yeske of Auburndale; eight grandchildren: Trevor, Colten, Makenna, Lucas, Emma, Lauren, Claire and Hannah; one sister, JoAnn (Lester) Kaiser of Hewitt; six brothers, Gene (Marilyn) Hinker of Loyal, Ronald (Audrey) Hinker of Wausau, Francis (Corrine) Hinker of Marshfield, Allen (Sandra) Hinker of Greenwood, Robert (Donna) Hinker of Greenwood and Bill Hinker of Greenwood; two sisters-in-law, Marlene Hinker of Greenwood and Sharon Hinker of Cape May, N. J.; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Larry and Jerry Hinker.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2009, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood with Fr. Joseph Follmar officiating. Visitation will be held at the church Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be given in Jim’s name.
