Glamkowski, Louis (8 JUL 1864 - 14 JUL 1952)

Mr. Louis Glamkowski passed away at the Neillsville hospital on Monday morning July 14, 1952 at 5 a.m., after a lingering illness. He had reached the age of 88 years and 5 days.

The deceased was born in Poland on July 8, 1864 and came to the U. S. in 1881, locating in Brooklyn, N.Y., finding employment in the large mills. He met and was united in marriage to Miss Helen Margeta on June 25, 1890 in New York City, N.Y., and came to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) the same year, locating on a farm 3 miles east of here.

This was to become their home where three sons and one daughter were born. He was active in the Town of Withee education program and acted as town assessor for some time. He was a good neighbor, a kind and loving father. His passing is deeply mourned by his two living sons, Stanley of Thorp and Tony of Ely, Minn.; five grandchildren, Louis and Stanley Smigaj of Chicago, Elaine Lutz of Thorp, Edwin Glamkowski of Connecticut and Alyce Glamkowski of Chicago, and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted by Father H. Zoromski at St. Hedwig’s Church on Thursday morning at ten o’clock, with interment in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Adam and Anton Lesniewski, Jos. Sopiarz, Louis Zukowski, Tom Polnaszek and Joe Tobola.
