James E. Lund, 78, passed away at the Stanley hospital on Thursday, May 22nd, 1952 of a heart condition. He suffered an attack at his home the previous Sunday.

 

James Edson Lund was born in the Town of Edson (Chippewa Co., Wis.) on April 20, 1874. He was untied in marriage to Minnie E. Williamson at Cadott on June 19, 1907. They came to Thorp in 1920 where Mr. Lund managed the Thorp Telephone Exchange until his retirement in 1938, but still continued to make his home here (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.).

 

He was secretary of Thorp Lodge No. 321, I.O.O.F., a member of the local Masonic Lodge, Eau Claire Consistory, the Stanley Eastern Star, Thorp Rebekah Lodge, and president of the Edson Cemetery Association.

He is survived by his wife and two brothers, V. Lund of River Falls and Chubb Lund of Eau Claire, besides many friends.

 

Masonic funeral services were conducted by Thorp Lodge No. 264, at the Thorp Funeral Home at 2:00 Sunday afternoon and also at the graveside. Rev. Leland Shaw gave the funeral sermon and members of the Stanley Easter Star read a memorial service. During the services songs were sung by Nancy Lindquist, Mrs. Floyd Cook and Mrs. Hollis Decker, accompanied by Mrs. Vivian Geiger.

 

He was buried in the Cadott Cemetery, at Cadott, Wis. Pallbearers were Hjalmer Brandsness, Joe Kulwiec, Wm. S. Wagner, Kenneth Lindquist, Chester Johnson and Wm. J. Klouda.
