Cannon, James K. (15 OCT 1845 - 5 MAY 1908)

Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock James K. Cannon passed away at his home on the north side (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.) after an illness of several months. Mr. Cannon was born in New York on Oct. 15, 1845. He has been twice married and is the father of one son, Dietz, and two daughters, Misses Maole and Lida. He had been a resident of Clark County since 1871, during most of which time he had charge of the pumping station of the city water works system. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen Lodge.

Mr. Cannon was an intelligent well read man and of an unusual scientific term of mind. He was a reader of many scientific journals and adapted his knowledge to the better performance of his labors for the city. He was a most conscientious and efficient public servant, thoughtful and free spoken, and it will be a difficult matter for the city to find as careful an employee and his many friends as kindly and charitable an associate.

Beside his wife and three children he leaves one sister, Mrs. Herman Schuster and four brothers, John R., J.F.R.S., and Wm. H., all of Oregon. The date of the funeral has not yet been definitely decided, as it is hoped that his son, Dietz, may be able to reach here from Oregon in a few days.

A telegram from Dietz Cannon says that he will arrive here Saturday and the funeral of his father, James Cannon, will probably be postponed until his arrival.
