Mrs. Gust Sillampa, nee Hilma Marie Piikkila, was born on Dec. 4, 1881 at Kauhajoki, Finland. She was a young lady when she came to America, first settling at DeKalb, Ill., at which place she met her husband, the two of them being joined in wedlock in 1907. Ever since 1914 she and her family have been residents of this community, first settling on a farm in the Town of Hoard (Clark Co., Wis.), which she and her husband worked hard to develop. Several years later they retired from the farm, moving to the village of Withee.

She was a devoted wife and mother with her first interest being in her home. Mourning her departure from these earthly surroundings are her husband, three sons, harry and Toivo of Detroit, Mich., and Carl of Owen; three daughters, Mrs. George Nichols and Mrs. Michael Winston, both of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Ed Denning of Chicago, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; two brothers and a sister still living in Finland.
