Denzin, Elaine M. (Marriage - 8 July 1944)

Miss Elaine M. Denzin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Denzin, Abbotsford, became the bride of Vernon C. Underwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Underwood, Dorchester, in a wedding ceremony read Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock in the Bethlehem Lutheran church at Milan. The Rev. Emanuel Malueg officiated.

The bride wore a white satin gown made with a long train and trimmed with lace insertion and ruffling. Her long, lace trimmed veil was caught to a head dress of orange blossoms and she carried a shower bouquet of red and white carnations and snap dragons. Her jewelry was a locket, a gift of the groom.

Attendants were Miss Evelyn J. Denzin, a sister of the bride, as maid of honor; Peter McMellen, Owen, a cousin of the groom, best man; Mrs. Earl Schultz and Miss Vera Underwood, sisters of the groom and Mrs. Eldon Denzin, a sister-in-law of the bride, bridesmaids; Everett Denzin, a cousin of the bride, Alfred Hoffman, and Eldor Denzin, brother of the bride, were ushers.

Miss Denzin wore a white formal frock of ninon with a matching head dress and shoulder length veil, while the bridesmaids wore pink and blue dresses with matching head dresses. All had shoulder corsages of pink and white carnations.

Following the ceremony a wedding dinner was served at the home of the bride’s parents, which was decorated with pink, blue and white streamers. Later in the day a reception was held at the Denzin home and a dance was given at the Trianon Gardens.

Mr. and Mrs. Underwood left on a wedding trip to southern Wisconsin. On their return they will reside on the farm with the groom’s parents.
