Knight, Helga (25 MAR 1884 - 27 APR 1950)

Mrs. Helga Knight died suddenly at her home in the city this noon, succumbing to a heart attack. She had been doctoring for the past several months but was able to be up yesterday.

She is one of the early settlers of this community having lived for many years on a farm in the vicinity of Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.) before moving to Owen.

No funeral arrangements have been made at this writing.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday afternoon at two o’clock from the Curtiss Evangelical Lutheran Church, Curtiss, for Mrs. Allen Knight, 66, who succumbed to a heart attack in her home in the city at noon a week ago today. Officiating at the final rites was the Rev. O. K. Odland. Burial was made in the parish cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Marcus Hermanson, E. M. Peterson, Gust Becken, Alvin Thorson, Geo. Lindau and Cornell Erickson.

Mrs. Knight, the former Helga Botterud, was born March 25, 1884, in the Town of Hoard. She received her education in Curtiss and was married to Allen Knight, in Oct. 1902, at Owen. She was a resident of Hoard Township until her marriage,, when they moved to Owen, living there until 1916. They moved back to the farm where she was born and they lived there until 1942, when Mr. Knight died. Since that time she had lived at Owen.

She is survived by a son, Chester, Abbotsford, and five daughters, Mrs. Levi (Selma) Ecke, Junction City; Mrs. John (Pearl) Lokken, Curtiss; Mrs. Warren (Hazel) Pettis, Chicago; Mrs. Orville (Beatrice) Thorson, Minneapolis and Mrs. Leonard (Irene) Kivikko, Owen; two brothers, Harry, Boston, Mass., and Carl, Milwaukee; fours sisters, Mrs. Henry Heinzel, Vancouver, Wash.; Mrs. Arthur Stadler, Owen; Mrs. Nathan Azine, Chicago; and Mrs. Adolph Northan, Superior and 11 grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, a son and daughter in infancy, and a brother and three sisters.

Correction to this record. Her daughter Hazel was mrs. Warren Pettis. Her sister, Agnes, was married to Nathan Azine and her sister Alma was married to Adolph Northam.
